BACKGROUND CONTEXT

What’s your story
Philip?

Before training as a financial adviser, I was a Mining Engineer in the late 80’s and 90’s I’ve worked for small boutique advice firms and for large institution firms I worked as a financial adviser at ANZ for several years and before starting my own practice Macquarie Private Wealth.
Establishing New Horizon Wealth was a natural progression for me, after working for a Private Wealth Company, working for an institutional organisation really limits your thinking and restricts how you give advice, when you work for a large institution they want you to think of a product first (usually theirs) and then you shoe horn the client into that, But the only way to think is with the clients best interest in mind, Once you understand that your free to research the very best that’s available in the market to reach the clients goals.

How long have you been practicing in
wealth management?

I’m regulated and have been registered as a Financial Adviser with ASIC since 2004. My ASIC number is 1004899.

Are you affiliated with any industries or financial bodies within Australia or internationally?

I hold a Tax Practitioners Board certificate for Tax (Financial) Advice.
I’m also a full member of the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA)
